Compared to the classic Coconut CoWash from the same brand, the JBCO CoWash integrates ceramides and a vitamin C and E complex — ingredients with a reconstructive role, not just hydrating. And to ensure active ingredients reach where they matter, As I Am uses its own proprietary sub-micron technology: active particles are reduced to sub-micron sizes, penetrating the hair and scalp far more efficiently than conventional formulas.

What the formula does at ingredient level:

• Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) — promotes growth, strengthens strands, improves moisture retention and scalp health. JBCO is obtained by roasting and pressing castor beans, giving it its dark colour and a richer nutrient profile compared to regular castor oil
• Ceramides — rebuild the hair's protective layer, sealing moisture inside and preventing further damage
• Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) — antioxidant, supports collagen production, protects follicles and helps iron absorption at scalp level
• Vitamin E (Tocopherol) — antioxidant, improves scalp circulation, reduces oxidative stress and supports hair thickness
• Betaine — a mild cleansing agent derived from sugar beet, which rounds out cleansing without stripping the hair fibre

How to use: Thoroughly wet the hair. Apply a generous amount of As I Am Jamaican Black Castor Oil CoWash to your palms and distribute it through the scalp, lengths and ends. Massage the scalp with your fingertips as you would with a traditional shampoo. Detangle with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, working from ends to roots. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat only if needed to remove heavier buildup or for additional scalp cleansing.
